Iain
(As read by Jude at Iains funeral)

Iain was the most wonderful person that I knew and it is easy for me to say that because I loved him so much he was my best friend and honest to the core.
He didnt hesitate to tell me if my bum looked too big in that dress or to compliment me in his own way by not leaving my side when we were out so that everyone knew I was his. He was really the total opposite to me - hated being the centre of attention, didnt gossip, loved his own space, dry sense of humour, grumpy when he wanted to be and preferred to stay in and watch DVDs.

He used to boast that he was a man about the house - doing the washing, making the tea and loading and unloading the dishwasher but I think that must have been in his night time dreams as I do not think I ever actually saw him do any of those things, but in all honesty I loved to do them for him. I left the technical stuff to him like the remotes and the gadgets about the house.

He loved the Simpsons and in reality he was Homer Simpson whom he humoursly accepted as his life role model!! He generally lead the easy life unlike me the whirlwind but all that worked well for the both of us - we were 2 peas in a pod and I wouldnt have had him any other way!

Iain was really quite a funny person under that serious appearance. Always using cockney rhyming slang his own little language, and he loved a joke and a giggle usually at someone else's expense, but he was also so generous and you never had to ask twice for anything, it was always done or taken care of no matter what u asked of him and I will miss that, he took care of me, made me cry, made me laugh and he loved me no matter what and no one can ever replace that.

When I first met Iain we didnt click straight away, I thought he was abit of a lad and a total joker and his first words were look at the size of your big toe. Which may I add in my credit that they are not that big!!!

We did eventually hit it off and I knew I was smitten but he did constantly mention Jodie which confused me, who was she, what did she mean to him?? A Little later he introduced me to Jodie his daughter - this beautiful little lady only 5 years old and he adored her, and as time went by I did too and when the 3 of us were together it really was perfect. The years went on with one or two hiccups on the way but eventually we decided we were serious about each other, we bought a house and Iain asked me to become Mrs Cain in his ever-so-romantic way his words were "because when you are my wife you have to make your husband a cup of tea every morning" so that was a good enough reason and I accepted and dragged him straight out for a ring before he could get out of it!!

Our Wedding was planned for July this year and even though we will never make it down the aisle together I will always see myself as Mrs Iain Cain as he is all that has ever mattered in my life I knew from the start he was the one for me regardless of the different personalities we fitted together and he was and always will be the love of my life.

Iain had many friends and by the amount of cards, flowers and phone calls we have received proves that, but his 6 best friends played a big part of his life Chris, Boovy, Simon, Ian G, Mitchy and Josie you all meant the world to him, we all holidayed together, weekends away and nights out together. He loved Friday nights which was lads night no girls allowed but 4 Budweisers later and he was merry and ready for a ruby murry - curry and home. Over the years you have all become my best friends too and I know Iain will be proud of how you have all taken care of me.

Iain loved all his family very much and although a rather large one everyone accepted me with open arms and I will always remain close to you all as you mean so much to me.

There were two other special females in Iains life - Andrea, you are like my second mum and Iain was so proud of what we have together as it can be hard to fit in with your lads mum and over the years you have loved me as much as Iain did and I will treasure that forever.

And Jodie you will always be special to me, your Dad loved you very very much and you should always remember that, you are his little girl and you are part of my family and I will always be here for you for as long as you need me.

There was also one 4 legged friend that misses him terribly the famous Bob! He still waits for him at the door at teatime when he hears a car - tail going a hundred miles an hour and its heartbreaking when he walks away deflated as I cannot explain where he has gone but im sure when we go to visit Iain he will give him a little squirt now and again!

People say that life will get easier and I will be able to build my life back up again but when you love someone so much like I loved him and they are taken away from you in such a cruel way I dont think that hurt will ever go away it seems to get harder not easier every day, I miss him more than I could ever express, its easier to smile and say that im fine but inside you crumble that bit more every day. He will always be with us all and I will never ever forget him and I love you so much Iain and will always treasure the time and memories that we had together, you are my best friend and I will love you always - Jude xxx

We thought of you with love today
But that is nothing new
We thought about you yesterday
And the days before that too
We think of you in silence
We often speak your name
Now all we have are memories
And your picture in a frame
Your memory is our keepsake
With which we'll never part
God has you in his keeping
We have you in our heart

about time

Well mate its about time i left a small tribute to you. We went through school together in fact from the nursery at reevy hill we were in every single class together right through to leaving. I remember you as a cheeky chappy who was extremely popular with everyone and exceptional at all sports. We played football for buttershaw youth and in our 1st game we lost 12-1 lol my parents read about in the T&A and thought we were playing rugby!! that didnt stop us and eventually we became a good team with you at the heart of it. We lost touch a bit as we grew up but I still saw you quite regularly at the forresters to catch up. I still find it hard to believe you are not here but reading some of these tributes you are definately never going to be forgotten.
R.I.P. mate
